At Peakvelop, quality does not begin with the finished product. It begins with the foundation we build and work on every day. That is why we rely on open source internally — from our workstations to the servers that support our projects.

Linux as Our Foundation

Our workstations run on Linux, and so do the servers we use to develop and operate our products. This is not a random choice. It follows the same principle that shapes our games and apps: we want to understand and control what happens inside our systems instead of relying on closed, unpredictable black boxes.

A free operating system gives us that control — over stability, security, and the long-term maintainability of our infrastructure.

Our Internal Tools Follow the Same Principle

Most of the software we use every day is open source. This includes development tools as well as the systems that keep our projects running in the background.

For us, this is more than a technical preference. It is a matter of care. If we want to create thoughtful, long-lasting products for our users, the foundation behind them has to be reliable too: understandable, transparent, and not dependent on a single vendor.

Why It Matters for Our Products

This mindset comes directly from a background in IT security and systematic problem-solving, where precision is not optional — it is essential. Open-source software can be reviewed, understood, and adapted when necessary. These are exactly the qualities we expect from our own code as well.

We do not want a half-finished collection of dependencies. We want a foundation that can grow with an idea without breaking under it.

A Deliberate, Not Dogmatic Choice

Open source is our default, not a rigid rule. When a commercial solution is genuinely the better choice for a specific purpose, we will choose it consciously.

But the foundation of our work — from our workstations to our servers — remains free and open. It reflects what Peakvelop stands for: no corporation, no mass-produced software, just a team that knows exactly what it is building on.
